With several local plays to his name Charlie Jones stepped into the industry this year, and what a big way to make his grand entrance...booking the role of Chip in the national tour of Beauty and the Beast! To keep up with Charlie and his career make sure to like CP Talent on FACEBOOK!

1. How did you get started in the industry?

This is my first big show. I started taking acting class when I was 3. I have been in 5 community theatre plays and 3 plays with my acting class.

2. What was the audition process like for Beauty and the Beast?

It was fun. I got to sing my song. Then they asked me to sing with some of the other boys who were auditioning too. When I got called back I only had to sing by myself. After I sang my song, they asked me questions about what made me like to be on stage.

3. How did you feel learning you got the role of Chip?

I was coming back from another audition in New York that day. We were on the train. I was so excited I wanted to yell, "Y E S!" really loud. But I had to be good on the train. I hugged my mom and dad. I was so happy.

4. What was it like rehearsing for the production?

We started in Columbus, OH. We rehearsed a lot. Not just the lines and songs, but where to look and when to smile and stuff. It was so cool.

5. Were you nervous about traveling with the show?

Maybe a little in the beginning, but now I think that travel day is fun. Well, except the packing part. That part not so much. We rush around a bunch, but we laugh too. The cast and crew are funny. I like flying. Sometimes we get pretzels on the plane.

6. Do you have a city you're most excited to go to?

I want to go to California. My mom says maybe we can go see the Hollywood sign. Maybe we can go to Disneyland. We are going to Las Vegas too. They are far from where I live. I can't wait to see them.

7. What was opening night like?

I wasn't scared. Mostly, I was excited. There were a lot of people that came to the show that day. My tummy felt funny. My mom said that was OK, everybody feels like that sometimes. They clapped a lot for me when I took my bow at the end. That made me feel really good.

8. What was your favorite play to do in your local theatre group?

I played the Knave of Hearts in Alice and Wonderland. It wasn't like the movie. I really liked being the Knave of Hearts. There was a trial because they thought I stole some tarts, but I didn't really steal them. I had to make a speech in front of the king to tell him I didn't do it. It was funny. I liked making the people in the audience laugh.

9. When it's not a day you're performing, what do you do to pass the time?

On the days that I am not on stage, I still have to be at the theatre. I do my school work. I write post cards to my class, from my school back home. The cast and crew play with me all the time. I play with my toys after my schoolwork is done.

In each city my mom and I try to do something cool. Sometimes we go to science centers or aquariums. I even got to go to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, OH. That was awesome!

10. What is the best part of being in Beauty and the Beast?

I really like performing on stage. I like hearing the audience laugh or clap during the show. They always look so happy when they are leaving the theatre. Sometimes they even ask for my autograph. I like knowing that I made them laugh.

I do miss my friends and my family at home. I even miss my teacher. But, the cast and crew are really nice. The play with me and teach me stuff. I know that I am lucky. I am totally having a great time.

We'd like to thank Charlie and his family for participating in our November Q&A Series!
